Quick Movie Review: In the Loop (2009)
In the Loop (2009)
Bottomline: Terrific British political film. Bloody hilarious!
QMR Opinion: Director Armando Iannucci does an excellent job of telling the backstory of how the American and British governments “agree” to begin military operations in a Middle Eastern country. As you watch this, the scary idea that occurs to you is that this is exactly how policy is decided. The writing is tight and reminds me of Aaron Sorkin. For me the star here is Peter Capaldi as Malcolm Tucker, the ultra profane minister of communications. His language would make a sailor blush, but he is absolutely hilarious. Other stand-outs include Tom Hollander as Defense Minister Simon Foster and Mimi Kennedy as U.S. Congresswoman Karen Clark.
