Quick Movie Review: RED (2010)

RED (2010)

Bottomline: Extremely fun movie. Not sure it was worth the full price of a movie ticket, but it is definitely worth renting.

Where Can I See It? It may still be in a theater near you but it will be released on DVD soon.

QMR Opinion:
There are certain movies you go see just because you want to have a little fun. My youngest daughter and I had wanted to see this movie since seeing the trailer. So, for her 13th birthday, we headed over to see this PG-13 film. Let’s be honest – the plot is convulted and is really superfluous to the overall real purpose of the film – get a bunch of good actors together and have some fun. Bruce Willis is doing what Willis does best – kicking butt and making snarky comments. John Malkovich plays a crazy guy (imagine!). Morgan Freeman is here. Helen Mirren gets to fire a heavy-duty weapon. Mary-Louise Parker is great and holds her own. And, last but not least, 93-year-old Ernest Borgnine makes an appearance or two. Make no mistake – this is an action film. There are moments of down time but it is wide open action from start to finish. You go to the restroom and you will miss something. It’s violent – very violent. The language gets rough. But, it’s pure fun.
