Quick Movie Review: The Bank Job (2008)

The Bank Job (2008)

Bottomline: Intriguing thriller that is well worth a rental.

Where Can I See It? It is available for rent on DVD.

QMR Opinion:
I love movies that surprise me. This one did. It was recommended to me and, frankly, it sat on my shelf for a long time. That's too bad because once I watched it, I realized how enjoyable it truly is. Starring Jason Statham, The Bank Job tells the story of a group of thieves who decide to break into a vault for money but end up stumbling upon government secrets, mob secrets and a whole host of other trouble. This is based on a true story that happened in the early 1970s. Statham is excellent in the lead role and his work here reminds me of the first time I saw him in Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels (1998). Plus, you have the added bonus of Saffron Burrows. This is a true thriller. You never know how it's going to end up and, many times, you not really sure which end is up. But, in the end, it is completely satisfying and more than worth your time.
