Twilight: New Moon (2009)
Bottomline: Better than the first, which means you won't fall asleep during it.
Yes, after watching the first Twilight (2008) film, I felt compelled to watch the second in the series. Both movies are available on DVD. Good news. It is better than the first. Bad news -- the first set the bar incredibly low. Despite having a different director, many of the same important film devices from the first film were carried over to the second -- LOTS of staring, simple sentences, idiotic dialog, and Kristen Stewart's vacuous expression. To show his never-dying love to Bella, Edward (played boringly by Robert Pattinson) decides to leave her alone to face by herself whatever may come. Gee, thanks. Turns out Bella has a nasty habit of attracting vampires that want to kill her and, yes, werewolves. This movie is saved somewhat by the appearance of werewolves who, thank goodness, have personality and are warm-blooded. Enter Taylor Lautner who has been hitting the weights and the HGH. Knowing which side his bread is buttered on, the director has Taylor taking his shirt off early in the movie and pretty much leaving it off for the entire film. Another piece of good news? Michael Sheen makes an appearance and is great if for no other reason than he appears to actually be enjoying himself.
