Quick Movie Review: The Tillman Story (2010)

The Tillman Story (2010)

Bottomline: Well done documentary that will absolutely piss you off.

Where Can I See It? It's available for rent and is on the movie channel rotation. I recorded it off of Showtime.

Caveat: The language is rough. The description of how Cpl. Tillman died is gruesome.

QMR Opinion: I don't have a lot to say about this doc other than you should see it. Pat Tillman was a multi-million dollar football player for the Cardinals who, along with his brother, made the decision to enlist and head to Afghanistan. He was soon deployed to Iraq where he quickly become disillusioned. This is the story of how Cpl. Tillman was killed by his own men and how his memory and honor were exploited by the military and the U.S. Government for their own use. To make matters worse, if that's possible, they just made the whole thing up and then covered it all up to keep the real truth from revealing itself. Had it been any other family, they probably would have gotten away with it, but, problem is, both the military and the government screwed with the wrong family. Watching the generals and Secretary Rumsfeld testify before congress, I was given a clear indication as why the war in Afghanistan and Iraq has been managed in such a way as to cause me to question the intelligence of anyone in the upper echelons of our government and military.
