The Book of Eli (2010)
Bottomline: Surprisingly good and entertaining film.
Where Can I See It? It's available for rent.
QMR Opinion: This movie was on my list for when the wife was out of town. I was expecting mindless violence being doled out by none other than Denzel Washington. What I got was a much better film that was well developed, surprising (it has a twist!), well written, well produced, and well acted. And, yes, there is plenty of Denzel kicking butt and taking names. Denzel plays Eli who has a book that Gary Oldman wants. The fun goes from there. It's post-apocalyptic America so there's plenty of dust, despair, bad hygiene, rotten teeth, and crazy people. But the setting gives the film the feel of a spaghetti western with Denzel playing the man with no name. Another pleasant surprise was Mila Kunis as Solara.
